FORMAL LETTER OF APPEAL AND INVITATION

To All Bahlakoana Communities, Councils, Royal Houses, and Descendant Families Across Southern Africa

To the Esteemed Bahlakoana of Southern Africa, and all descendants across the continent,

With profound respect and a deep sense of historical responsibility, the Indigenous Kingdoms of Southern Africa NPC (IKOSA) extends this formal letter to every Bahlakoana community, council, royal house, and family lineage dispersed across South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, and neighbouring regions.

For centuries, the Bahlakoana have carried a distinguished heritage rooted in the earliest foundations of Sotho‑Tswana civilisation. Today, many communities live in areas where traditional leadership is unrecognised, fragmented, or displaced. Others maintain their identity without the institutional support of royal houses or ancestral councils. Yet the lineage remains, powerful, ancient, and deserving of revival.

IKOSA therefore invites all Bahlakoana to unite behind a historic research initiative aimed at reconstructing, restoring, and reviving the full royal genealogy and ancestral landscapes of the Bahlakoana nation, from 250 CE to the present day.

Purpose of the Initiative

This project seeks to:

• Reconstruct the royal lineage from Mosito → Napo → Disema → descendants of Disema → modern communities.
• Restore indigenous place names such as Dikoteng, Tebang, Ntswanatsatsi, Thabatshotsho, etc.
• Document oral traditions, praise poetry (lithoko/dithoko), and indigenous cosmology.
• Map ancestral landscapes using archaeology, linguistics, and GIS technology.
• Revive royal houses and councils where they have been lost or suppressed.
• Produce ascholarly book,heritage report,digital archive, anddocumentary film.

This work is grounded in the latest IKOSA Indigenous Historical Reconstruction Series, which confirms that Dikoteng’s occupation dates to 250 CE, placing Bahlakoana origins more than 1,700 years into the past.

Why Your Participation Matters

The Bahlakoana are not a single village or a single province, you are a continental people, spread across borders created long after your ancestors established their governance systems, settlement networks, and cosmological identity.

Your participation is essential because:

• Only descendants can validate royal genealogies.
• Only communities can restore indigenous place names.
• Only Bahlakoana can revive their royal houses with legitimacy.
• Only custodians can protect ancestral landscapes from erasure.

IKOSA stands ready to coordinate the research, but the authority rests with you , the people of Mosito, Napo, and Disema.

Call to Action

IKOSA respectfully requests:

1. Community endorsement of the research initiative.
2. Participation in oral history interviews and lineage documentation.
3. Identification of elders, custodians, and praise poets.
4. Support for field research, travel, and archival work.
5. Financial partnership to ensure the project’s completion and publication.

This is a revival of identity, governance, and historical truth, a restoration of what colonial historiography compressed, renamed, and obscured.

A Continental Family Reunited

To every Bahlakoana household, whether in Gauteng, Free State, Northwest, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Kwa Zulu-Natal, Western Cape, Lesotho, Botswana, or the diaspora, this letter is your invitation to stand together in reclaiming a history that belongs to you.

Your ancestors built stone‑walled cities.
Your lineages shaped regional politics.
Your cosmology governed time, law, and society.
Your names are older than borders.
Your identity is older than colonial archives.
Your story is ready to be restored.
